The United Arab Emirates has earned global recognition as the top improver in intellectual property performance, as per the 2026 International IP Index released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The index evaluates the IP frameworks of 55 economies worldwide, collectively representing approximately 90% of global GDP.
The UAE recorded the most significant single-year score advancement among all assessed nations, with its overall rating climbing from 48.26% to 52.98% — a growth of +4.72%. This marks the largest improvement achieved by any economy in this edition of the index. At the regional level, the country secured fourth place within the Middle East and Africa category, further reinforcing its position as a growing hub for innovation and intellectual property protection.
The gains are attributed to a combination of strategic reforms undertaken by the UAE, including enhanced administrative efficiency, stronger enforcement mechanisms, broadened support programmes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and closer alignment with internationally recognised IP standards.
Of the 55 economies assessed, 20 recorded improvements during this cycle. The UAE’s performance stands out as the most notable among them, reflecting the effectiveness and consistency of the country’s long-term innovation and IP strategy
