The application is submitted through the MOCIIP online portal with the required details, including the trademark representation, applicant information, and the list of goods/services as per the NICE Classification. Oman requires single-class filing and a separate application must be filed for each class. Once filed, the application receives an official filing number.

The Registry conducts a combined formal and substantive examination, reviewing the completeness of details, distinctiveness, compliance with GCC Trademark Law, and potential conflicts with earlier marks. If any issues are identified, an official action is issued to the applicant.

If the application clears examination without objections, the mark is formally accepted and, upon payment of publication fees, the mark gets published in the Oman Official Gazette for public review and potential opposition.

Once published, third parties have a statutory 60-day period to file an opposition. If no opposition is filed, or if any opposition is successfully resolved in favour of the applicant, the application proceeds to the registration stage

After the opposition period ends and following payment of the registration fee, MOCIIP issues the official Trademark Registration Certificate

Trademark registration in Oman is valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely for successive 10-year period terms by paying the renewal fees within the last year of validity or during a 6-month grace period thereafter with a late fee.
