UAE Trademark Office Adopts 13th Edition of the Nice Classification Effective January 2026

The United Arab Emirates has officially transitioned to the 13th Edition of the Nice Classification for trademark purposes, with the updated framework coming into effect on January 27, 2026. The 13th Edition replaces the 10th Edition that was previously in use by the UAE Trademark Office, bringing the country’s trademark classification system in line with the latest international standards. The updated edition introduces significant reclassifications across multiple trademark classes, which will have direct implications for the filing, registration, and management of trademarks in the UAE.
